Intact and fragmented intracellular immunoglobulin in a case of non-secretory myeloma.

چکیده
A patient is described with myeloma without paraproteinaemia or Bence Jones proteinuria in whom the tumour cells have been shown to contain monoclonal immunoglobulin. The use of immunoelectrophoresis and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis has established, apparently for the first time, that the immunoglobulin components are present in the form of intact molecules and free light chains.

Non Secretory Multiple Myeloma With HCV Infection: A Rare Case Entity
Multiple Myeloma is a neoplasm of B cell lineage characterized by excessive proliferation of abnormal plasma cells. It is characterized by a clinical pentad of 1) anemia, 2) a monoclonal protein in the serum or the urine or both, 3) bone leisons and or bone pain, 4) hypercalcemia >11.5g/dl and 5) renal insufficiency. Non secretory multiple myeloma is a rare variant of the classic form of multi...
متن کاملDemonstration of serum monoclonal immunoglobulin in a case of non-secretory myeloma by immunoisoelectric focusing.
A paraprotein band in non-secretory myeloma was shown using a highly sensitive technique of immunoisoelectric focusing. The published work concerning non-secretory myeloma is briefly reviewed.
متن کاملNon-secretory immunoglobulin E myeloma associated with immunoglobulin G monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance
A 68-year old woman came to our hospital with a severe case of anemia. Serum immunoelectropheresis identified a monoclonal immunoglobulin (Ig) G and κ protein. The serum IgE level was within the nomal range and the amounts of remaining immunogloblins were low. On bone marrow aspirate, plasma cells made up 55.5% of nucleated cells and the plasma cells showed positive readings for IgE κ and IgG b...
متن کاملNon-secretory myeloma: a clinician's guide.
The treatment of patients with multiple myeloma has dramatically changed over the past 10 years due to an improved understanding of plasma cell biology and the development of new targets. The subset of these patients with non-secretory myeloma-a group of patients who do not secrete immunoglobulin or its component parts into either the blood or urine-has been challenging to treat and to assess f...
متن کاملRole of Suppressed Immunoglobulins in Outcome of Patients With Multiple Myeloma
Introduction: Multiple myeloma (MM) is typically presented with abundant monoclonal secretion of one type of immunoglobulin. The other classes of immunoglobulins, which are uninvolved and not secreted by malignant plasma cells, could be decreased. A number of previous studies reported the effect of suppression of uninvolved immunoglobulins on the outcome of patients with myeloma. However, its e...
